Diwali Table Lantern

Hello Friends!!
As we all know that Diwali is round the corner & it is a festival of lights, lamps, decoration & lots of fun, so here is what I made to add more light to this festival :)
A Lantern!! But what new?? Oh yes, It’s a table lantern with Mandana design at the base. Mandana is prepared on floor by drawing beautiful designs & here I have incorporated a small Mandana with my lantern.
Have a look!

At the sides of the lantern are two mini hand painted pots which are actually candle holder.

The green colour PP is a handmade paper, crushed & distressed to get this look. I also rubbed some gold dust for little shine.
For the center position of all the four sides I have used an old saree fabric for a beautiful translucent effect on lightening it up. Further decorated it with some punched flowers & festive fabric booti.

On top I put some sequins & at the center is a festive decoration made up of bamboo, on which I glued some embellishments from old rakhis.

For the Mandana design, wrapped a brown PP on a cardboard cut in a semicircular shape.
Pattern is made using a white 3-D Outliner. Finally added some stones & glitter to it.

Also my lantern has legs at the base made up of my mother’s old bangles.

I recycled an old box to make this lantern, original box looked like this…

"Welcome" Wall Hanging

Hello Friends!!
Here is my another post with full of colours. This time I want to make something with flowers, leaves, butterfly, birds & all that which connects to nature! & finally came up with this wall hanging.

Welcome Wall Hanging

Welcome Wall Hanging
I used thick cardboard & corrugated planks from a cardboard carton and glued them together to get a stronger base. Before gluing, punched the cardboard to tie fiber rope with beads to hang it. Covered the entire surface with gesso. Next did some decoupaging with maple leaves decoupage napkins.

Then sprinkled some tiny dots of acrylic colours yellow, orange & crimson.
After preparing the background stuck a bamboo mat border with two woody stems at the top & bottom. These woody stems were collected from my garden & then painted. Added a small bird at the bottom woody stem.

Then started embellishing it with my handmade flowers, punched leaves, some twigs with tiny sparkling thermocol balls. Added small pretty orange berries. The butterfly was hand cut from an old rhyme book, kept safely since my childhood due to its beautiful bright colours J

Making the small maple leaves was another interesting part for which I coloured a white sheet with different colour inks, sprayed some water to let the inks spread & then punched out the leaves.
Lastly went about inking the edges with distress ink gathered twigs.

So this was all, I hope you like it. Eagerly waiting to read your comments, do tell me J

Have a wonderful day!!
